Happy Friday Church Family! This last weekend our church’s very own Elevate Youth attended the Nanoose Bay Teen Fall Camp. It had been 13-14 years since Nanoose Bay had hosted a Fall camp/retreat. Our heart and goal in putting this Fall camp together was for:
1. Spiritual growth in our students
2. Building community within our youth ministries
3. To build unity between all the PAOC youth ministries on the island.
In total, there was 7 youth groups that attended our fall camp, and we had over 110 students register in all. As a youth ministry we were able to bring 34 students and 4 leaders! I invited my close friend, Pastor Trevor Caverly from North Pointe Church in Edmonton to preach and speak into the lives of our teenagers. Pastor Trevor did an excellent job as he encouraged students to go all-in in their walks with Jesus. He gave our students great examples of how that can look for us and how it would look to have a daily walk with Jesus. On Saturday morning, he spoke a message titled, “a not so sexy world.” The message was based around Healthy Sexuality. He shared the story of David & Bathsheba and how we as individuals can overcome the desires and temptations of the world. Lastly, students were encouraged to be image bearers in their schools, neighborhoods, work places and share Jesus to those that are spiritually hungry for something more in life. That we as individuals have something of real substance to offer, that a life with Jesus is the most fulfilling life you can possibly have.
John 6:35, ”Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Thank-you so much for your prayers for our students over last weekend and to those individuals who sponsored students to attend the camp. Please keep on praying for our students this year that God would grip the hearts of our students because they are the church of today and also our future. A special thank you to Jon Petty, Jackie Sarginson and Kim Finstad for chaperoning over the weekend, you are special humans.
In Christ,
Pastor Trevor
