Summer is my favourite season.

I'm sad to see it go each year.

But, there are a few things that help me in my grief:

  • God decided to send salmon to return to our Vancouver Island rivers in September.
  • We still seem to get some nice stretches of weather in September, and sometimes October.
  • A crisp Fall day is truly a beautiful thing.
  • Thanksgiving. Yum.
  • And, it's probably the pastor in me, there are many things I look forward to in the life of our church in the Fall. While we have several things going on, let me tell you about three things I'm especially looking forward to.

Next Step Sunday. I hope you will mark Sunday, October 20 on your calendar. And, as you wonder what a 'Next Step Sunday' even is, I will leave it at that and let some curiosity settle in.

Our main Fall Series & Groups. After Next Step Sunday we will give several weeks to a series exploring if the gospel is actually good news. I want to encourage everyone in CPC to get together in groups during the week for discussion and prayer. I know you don't want to stagnate in your faith; this will be a wonderful opportunity for spiritual growth and connection!

Our Worship & Prayer Evenings. We will give extra time for worship and prayer together on the last Sundays of October and November. Isn't it wonderful to consider how God has been answering many aspects of our 5 Prayer Priorities this year?

Before you know it, we will have a late-Fall Town Hall and be in the Christmas Season again. In the meantime, two things I'm celebrating:

  1. This week Pastor Clay had 78 students attend our Youth Ministry Launch Night! It is such a thrill to hear reports of the gospel of Jesus reaching new students and new families!
  2. The official opening of our new Central Lobby. After a few delays (a renovation wouldn't be legit without a few, right?) we are looking forward to the extra space we will have to connect with one another on Sundays. There have been a myriad of awesome volunteers who have given time and abilities to help this project these past several months. I want specifically thank Dale Clair and Pierre Comtois for their expertise, tireless energy, and weeks upon weeks of time. I also want to thank Chantiel Wilson for her beautiful design work.

I hope to see you all this Sunday! ...and throughout the Fall!

Jesus is so very faithful to us.
