I want to begin taking opportunity in this setting to explore each of our 5 Prayer Priorities for 2021. Since we had our AGM last week, I want to start with The Stewardship and Future of our Building.

2021 is an important year for our property and its future. As we discussed last Sunday night (follow this link to a recording of the AGM), we need to address some serious leaks and subsequent damage. We are also at an important juncture in our history where we need to consider the potential and direction for our building and property for the next 20 years. We are so grateful for our excellent location and the building we can enjoy because of the sacrifices made for us by earlier generations (some among us now, to whom we are all so grateful). Now it’s our turn to consider what we can do for future generations.

Our building committee is very important. Vision, input and prayer are also essential ingredients in our journey forward. Allow me to elaborate a little on some of the images I shared in the AGM. Our hope is that this clarity will help us discern vision, gather input and take action well.

The Leadership Council:

  • Is put in place by the membership. This includes the Lead Pastor, who is the chair.
  • Is responsible for Vision, Decision Making, and Giving Direction.
The Building Committee:
  • Is put in place by the Leadership Council. It is Chaired this year by Calvin Farnell, who is also on the Leadership Council.
  • Is responsible to Lead Execution of the vision, decisions and direction given by the Leadership Council.
  • Gathers input and forwards consideration for Leadership Council review.
Staff, Leaders, Volunteers, Members and Attenders:
  • Offer ideas, input and considerations regarding building/property vision, potential and needs in conversation, by email and in special meetings (i.e. Town Halls, etc.)
  • Help with implementation and involvement as volunteers are needed.
  • Responsible to cover process in prayer (as are LC & BC also!).

So I hope you’ll join me, in your own prayer life, and as we gather online this Sunday at 6.30pm on Zoom for our Prayer Service, in praying for the Stewardship and Future of our Building.

  • Let’s pray for God’s direction for the next 20 years
  • Let’s pray for wisdom for the Leadership Council and Building Committee
  • Let’s pray for the leaks and damage repairs and the hiring of an architect
