He is Risen!

Easter Sunday. The sun rises, voices echo with joy around the world:
“He is risen!”
“He is risen indeed!”

It’s not just a tradition—it’s a global celebration. Churches everywhere prepare for the most powerful moment in history: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And we were right there too, preparing our hearts and our space for a weekend that would point people to the greatest love story ever told.

We dedicate time and energy to an Easter service that focuses on the most significant invitation anyone on earth could ever receive: to accept the love of Jesus Christ. It’s to accept that without Him, we would never be free from the bondage of sin and death. And ultimately, it’s to believe that though our bodies may die, we will go on to spend eternity with Jesus in a place He is preparing for you and for me.

He is risen indeed.

Our Easter celebration was hosted at the Florence Filberg Centre for the kids, and at the Sid Williams Theatre for the adults. We saw over 600 people across both spaces—many of them first-time guests—who heard about the ultimate example of love found in the death and resurrection of Jesus. No story, fact or fiction, could ever surpass such love.

And the weekend didn’t end there. The next day, we continued the celebration with 24 child and youth baptisms at the ocean, attended by over 100 people. Watching young people publicly declare their love for Jesus Christ is one of the greatest things to witness.

Waiting for us after the cold dip in the ocean was a group of dads with Blackstone grills—and a sauna—to help celebrate the new life these kids have found in Christ.

Our hope for our community is to continue to see the wonderful work of Jesus Christ take root across the Comox Valley. And this Easter, one thing was made clear: Jesus is on the move.

Let’s pray that we keep in step and follow where He is leading.

Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
 He leads me beside quiet waters,

3 He refreshes my soul.
 He guides me along the right paths
  for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk
 through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
 for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
 they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
 in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
 my cup overflows.

6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
 all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
 forever.

AMEN,
