Ever been asked for your digits?
Ya, you saw that right! If it can happen to me, it can happen to you!! I couldn’t believe it!! The Bible College semester had ended, Christmas Break was about to start, and on the day I was leaving for home, Kim asked for my digits (phone number). It was a MIRACLE!!!
I have really enjoyed this sermon series on First Love. If you are in a relationship or have been in the past, we all remember what it was like early on in the relationship. The excitement, the anticipation of all the phone calls, dates, get-togethers, and all the time we would spend together. It was so exciting.
I grew up in a great home where faith and relationship with Jesus were very prevalent. Even in this amazing environment I had, I struggled at times to find a faith that was real for me. At times, I hid behind my parent's faith until my late teen years when I met Jesus in such a real way. I grew up as a Christian, I invited Jesus into my heart as a 5 or 6-year-old but I truly decided to follow Jesus the summer before my Grade 12 year. That year Jesus became my first love. That year I decided to stand up for faith, to not focus on popularity and to what others thought, I started to care and reach out to those who I use to pick on and befriend. I had learned how to love others because He loved us first (1 John 4:19). I was different. It set me up for what God had for my life.
In Pastor Mike’s first message in this new series, he spoke about delighting in God. I have to be honest, the word ‘delight’ isn’t really in my vocabulary….until now. One of my goals over this 21 day fast is to thoroughly go over Psalms and the first chapter hit me like a lightning bolt.
1:2-3 “But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
These two verses share so much wisdom. Here’s my take, the more we DELIGHT in knowing, learning, obeying, spending time with God, the more we LOVE God, the more FRUITFUL we will be.
Let me pray for you. “Lord, help my friends and I DELIGHT in you this 2022, that we would become a FRUITFUL fellowship this coming year.”
Praying for you as you delight in Jesus this year!
Trevor
